Annual Grant program provides funding for 16 regional organizations

June 15, 2016 — The PATH Foundation announced the selection of 16 area organizations to receive funding from their most recent round of grant applications, focused on planning and programs. The projects selected relate to one or more of the Foundation’s four priority areas: access to care; childhood wellness; mental health; and senior services. The selected grantees have one year to use the funding provided to them.

“It’s an exciting day to announce the recipients of our annual grants. These organizations represent a wide range of efforts to benefit Fauquier, Rappahannock and northern Culpeper Counties. The application process is rigorous, and our recipients have demonstrated solid plans and programs that tie to our mission to strengthen the health and vitality of our community,” stated Christy Connolly, President and CEO of the PATH Foundation. “We are grateful to be able to provide financial assistance for these nonprofits to help them strengthen our community.”

A total of $754,186 will be awarded to the following organizations (pending finalization of grant agreements):

• Boys and Girls Club of Fauquier, Inc. received a grant of $40,000 to build their program through strengthening policies, board leadership, and facilities and operations planning.
• Community Touch, Inc. received $10,000 to focus on community engagement and awareness for clients, volunteers and donors.
• Fauquier Community Child Care, Inc. received $34,500 to implement the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards adopted by the National Afterschool Association.
• Fauquier County Community Development received $50,000 for a strategic planning process that involves the community in understanding and responding to the factors impacting Fauquier County’s future.
• Fauquier County Public Library received a grant of $25,000 to conduct a community assessment to help plan future library resources and services.
• Fauquier County Public Schools-VPI received $15,000 to plan a four-week summer program that will focus on kindergarten readiness.
• Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation received $96,500 to improve the main building and outdoor grounds of the existing Outdoor Lab on the Fauquier High School campus.
• Fauquier Free Clinic, Inc. received a $52,700 grant to expand oral health resources in the region.
• Fauquier Habitat for Humanity received $6,150 to provide financial and nutritional education for families in the program, as well as low-income families within the community.
• Fauquier Trails Coalition, Inc. received $50,000 to design the extension of the Cedar Run Greenway below US Highway 29/15 to Blackwell Road.
• Lord Fairfax Community College received $75,000 to expand its Associates of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) degree and Paramedic Career Studies Certificate programs to the Fauquier Campus that will take effect this fall.
• Mountain Vista Governor’s School Foundation received $60,000 to add a 10th grade cohort to its existing 11th and 12th grade programs.
• Piedmont Environmental Council received $64,336 to assist the Town of Remington in building on its community assets and offer transportation and recreational options, such as trails, sidewalks, bike routes and parks projects.
• Rappahannock County Schools received $100,000 for Commit to Be Fit, a new initiative to integrate fresh, healthy food and increased movement for all students and employees within the school system.
• VolTran received $15,000 to increase capacity and sustainability of the organization through their strategic plan.
• Windy Hill Foundation received $60,000 to support the construction of five fully-accessible handicapped units at the Washburn Place affordable housing project in Marshall
