The Arc of North Central Virginia Receives Grant for Outdoor Drinking Fountain at Landmark Playground
December 14, 2015 — The Fauquier Health Foundation announced today that it has awarded a Make it Happen grant of $6,550 to The Arc of North Central Virginia so that the organization can provide an outdoor drinking fountain at its Fun for All Playground at the Warrenton Aquatic Recreation Facility (800 Waterloo Rd., Warrenton, Va.). The Arc is committed to enhancing the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and serves Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties. The Fun for All Playground was developed as a fully accessible playground for all children. Installation of an outdoor tri-level fully accessible drinking fountain adds another level of support for this landmark playground. More than 100 to 500 people access the playground daily with more than 36,000 using the facility during the course of a year.
“We are delighted to provide this much needed addition to this remarkable playground,” stated Christy Connolly president and CEO of Fauquier Health Foundation. “It may seem simple but a fully accessible water fountain will significantly contribute to the use of the site.” Because the playground was designed to support all children, families with children with disabilities can bring all their children and their friends to enjoy the playground together.
