PATH Foundation Announces More than $500,000 in Grants

Project & Planning Grants provide funding for 17 area organizations
The PATH Foundation announced the selection of 17 area organizations to receive funding from their most recent round of grant applications, focused on projects and planning. The projects selected relate to one or more of the Foundation’s four priority areas: access to care; childhood wellness; mental health; and senior services. The selected grantees have one year to use the funding provided to them.
“We’re excited to announce our project and planning grant recipients,” stated Christy Connolly, president and CEO of the PATH Foundation. “They represent a wide range of efforts to benefit Fauquier, Rappahannock and northern Culpeper Counties. Each recipient has demonstrated solid plans and programs that tie to our mission to strengthen the health and vitality of our community. We are grateful to be able to provide financial assistance for these nonprofits to help them strengthen our community.”
A total of $505,583 will be awarded to the following organizations (pending finalization of grant agreements):
Bluemont Concert Series – $4,000 to provide musical entertainment to residents of local retirement homes and healthcare facilities by performers featured in Culpeper and Warrenton summer concerts.
Culpeper County Parks & Recreation – $50,000 to build a fully accessible playground at the Culpeper County Sports Complex.
Fauquier Community Child Care – $33,000 to enhance and refine the implementation of the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards to reflect the needs of the families in Fauquier County, while also hiring area high school students to provide mentorship and tutoring to children.
Fauquier County Public Schools – $100,000 to establish the Fauquier Environmental Studies Academy that will begin in Fall 2017.
Fauquier Education Farm – $7,600 to assist with materials needed for their 2018 Demonstration Projects. Demonstrations are part of their summer Workshop Series.
Fauquier FISH – $30,067 for their Weekend Power Pack program, which provides backpacks of meals to children who are at risk of hunger during weekends, school holidays and snow days. This project is in partnership with Fauquier County Public Schools.
Fauquier Free Clinic – $69,200 to expand oral health resources within their dental clinic.
Foothills Forum – $7,500 for a research and reporting project that will explore critical health and transportation issues facing the local aging population.
Headwaters Foundation – $10,000 to provide an after-school enrichment program at Rappahannock Elementary School, which allows students to have supervised after-school care.
Mental Health Association of Fauquier County – $64,000 to implement a collaborative community response to concerns regarding mental health and substance abuse issues among local youth. This will include strategies to reduce stigma, promote prevention programs and increase treatment opportunities.
M.M. Pierce Elementary School – $9,100 to continue servicing the Remington community with the L.A.M.P. Mobile, a project that brings library, art, music, and P.E. to M.M. Pierce students over the summer months, promoting active learning year-round.
Rapp@Home – $40,000 to continue the rural senior village program helping Rappahannock County residents to stay connected and live independently, while remaining at home.
Rappahannock County High School – $22,500 to continue the PRIDE (Positive Relationships Inspire a Drive for Excellence) program that encourages positive social behaviors for students within a structured school environment.
Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services – $20,000 to develop a parent education and support program for families coping with behavioral and mental health issues.
VolTran – $20,000 to assist with the coordination of outreach programs and transportation services.
Warrenton Lions Club Charities – $8,616 to screen students for sight and hearing deficiencies with more accurate equipment.
Windmore Foundation – $10,000 to support The Young at HeART Arts and Wellness Series, a program that fosters senior wellness and encourages aging with grace, courage and humor.
