PATH Foundation and Center for Nonprofit Excellence Launch New Partnership
Center provides tools, training, consulting and resources to help area nonprofits
April 26, 2016 — The PATH Foundation celebrated the creation of the PATH Resource Center at an open house on Friday, April 22. Located in Warrenton, the PATH Resource Center will provide education, consulting, volunteer services, connections, and more to nonprofits serving Fauquier, Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties.
The PATH Resource Center was developed in consult with nonprofit leaders and their key stakeholders in the region who identified a clear need for community investment in professional development and leadership within the nonprofit sector.A new partnership between the PATH Foundation and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) is responsible for the PATH Resource Center. CNE, based in Charlottesville, Va., is a nonprofit resource center with more than 300 member organizations across central Virginia dedicated to helping nonprofits’ success. The PATH Resource Center, funded by the PATH Foundation, will be managed and operated by CNE.
“We are so thrilled to partner with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence and provide this valuable support to the many nonprofits in our region,” stated Christy Connolly president and CEO of the PATH Foundation.
Andrew Robinson, CNE Membership Manager, added, “Talking to nonprofit leaders both before and during our open house, I’ve begun to understand the needs of the rich and diverse nonprofit community in this area. Board governance, volunteer recruitment and fundraising are perennial issues, especially for smaller, volunteer-based organizations. Solutions are always unique to each organization.”
Monthly education sessions begin in May, and include topics covering governance, leadership, volunteer services and more. Attendance is free. The Center will also include resources for volunteer services based on a recent PATH Foundation study of volunteer needs in the community.
Lynn Lauritzen recently joined the Center as Volunteer Services Manager. With a strong history in volunteer programs, her experience will be beneficial in helping both nonprofits and community volunteers looking for the right fit for their time and interests. “I am looking forward to getting this program up and running. We have great resources in the area to make a difference in the lives of many,” said Lynn.
The PATH Resource Center’s open house was attended by more than 100 people representing a wide variety of nonprofits serving the area. Cindy Colson, CNE Programs Manager said, “It was exciting to see the nonprofit community is so committed to improvement and best practices. We are going to do great work together for the common good.”
