The PATH Foundation introduced their latest cohort of 20 summer interns, placed at various organizations across Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Culpeper counties. Placements are made based on a variety of factors including intern course of study, experience, and physical location. Interns are also assigned mission-advancing tasks at their nonprofit host agencies. In addition to their placements, the interns collaborate on a final group project, intended to share a bright spot in the community.

“The PATH Summer Internship was an amazing experience that equipped me with the tools to give back to those around me while teaching me about the vital role nonprofit organizations have on a community,” says Emily Penatzer, 2024 PATH Intern. “While placed at the Fauquier Free Clinic, I was surrounded by the most dedicated and hardworking people, all of whom helped strengthen my passion for service and public health.”

Since inception, PATH has employed 170 college students in their summer internship program. This program highlights PATH’s dedication to supporting local organizations and providing young adults with valuable work experience and the ability to give back to the communities they call home.

“Ten years on, our summer internship program remains at the heart of the PATH Foundation’s programs,” says President & CEO Christy Connolly. “We are proud to offer college students the opportunity to engage with their communities in meaningful ways, while the nonprofits in our region benefit from the energy and dedication of the next generation. This year’s interns are placed at the Afro-American Historical Association, Aging Together, the Carver Food Enterprise Center, CHISPARK Culpeper, the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce, the Culpeper Literacy Council, Fauquier Community Child Care, the Fauquier Education Foundation, Fauquier FISH, the Free Clinic of Culpeper, Friends of the Rappahannock, Generations Central Adult Day Center, Hero’s Bridge, Hope Heals Community Freestore, Just Neighbors, Leadership Fauquier, the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County, New Pathways Tech, the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission, The Plains Community League, and UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center.
